Farmers protest shouldn’t become a replica of Nizamuddin Markaz meet: supreme court

The supreme court on Thursday has asked the central government that what it has learned from the Nizamuddin Markaz congregation earlier this year amid covid-19 and the same situation may arise this year with the farmers’ protest if necessary precautionary measures are not taken to stop the spread of covid-19.

On the ongoing farmers protest in Delhi borders a bench headed by the chief justice S.A, Bode has asked the solicitor general Tushar Mehta, “You must tell us what is happening?”

The bench also comprising justices V. Ramasubramanian and A.S. Bopanna queried, wether the protesting farmers at various Delhi border are taking necessary precautions for covid-19.

The top court has asked the central government to submit a report on the steps taken so far contain the spread of covid-19 and issue a notice on the plea filed by Supriya Pandita through advocate Omprakash Parihar.

The bench also said that it is trying to ensure that covid -19 does not spread and asked the center to ensure the necessary precautions and ensure guidelines are strictly been followed.
