Old City facing shortage of drinking water supply

Residents of Old City are experiencing acute shortages of drinking water due to rising temperatures. While the State government promised to provide uninterrupted drinking water supplies, Old City areas have been experiencing irregular water supplies for the past three months.

Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board (HMWSSB) officials received a complaint from a group of frustrated residents.

Old City residents in several areas such as Shalibanda, Haribowli, Panch Mohalla, Himmatpura, Khilwat, Khursheed Shah, Chelapura, Moosa Bowli, Hussain Alam, Ghazi Banda, Shamsheergunj, Kishan Bagh, Falaknuma, and Tadban have been facing water shortages.

Residents say they do not receive water from the pipelines and the water supply is irregular and low-pressure.

Residents asked the board to provide adequate water and urged them to increase water pressure to meet their needs.

Mohammed Abdul Hadi, a Moosa Bowli resident, stated, “We residents have been suffering greatly in recent months due to a lack of water in our lane. The time for opening and closing the water supply valve is not fixed. Residents only make two trips to the water valve to fill up. Previously, the valve was open all day and we had enough water supply, but now we are completely deprived of drinking water.”
