Flood water is increasing gradually in Srisailam Reservior

Kurnool: Due to incessant rains in Karnataka and Krishna Catchment areas, the flood water is increasing gradually in the Srisailam reservoir of Kurnool Dist of Andhra Pradesh.

The reservoir receives 78,899 cusecs of floodwater from the Jurala project and 1100 cusecs from Handrineva. Currently, the water level of Srisailam Reservoir is 820.20 feet and the storage capacity is 40.9904 TMC.

Srisailam Reservoir has a full water level of 885 feet and a water storage capacity of 215 TMC. Authorities said the reservoir could fill up in ten days if the floodwaters continue.

Alamatti, on the other hand, receives an inflow of 27,000 cusecs and an outflow of 46,000 cusecs.  About 45,000 cusecs of water were released downstream from Narayanpur.

 Power generation with nine units

As the floodwaters rise into the Krishna River, power generation continues through the upper and lower Jurala hydropower plants.

Production was carried out by four units at the Upper Jurala Hydroelectric Power Station and five units at the Lower Jurla Hydroelectric Power Station. A maximum of 39 to 40 MW of electricity is being generated per unit.
