Four-day training for SHE Teams held

Hyderabad: A four-day training for the SHE Teams across the State on uniform service delivery was  conducted by Women’s Safety Wing of Telangana State Police, at conference hall-1, Womens Safety Wing, Lakdi-ka-pool here.

The training program was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Jitender, IPS, ADG, L&O.  He addressed the trainees, who came from the three police commissionerates — Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda. During the address, Jitender said after the formation of Telangana State, the government gave top priority to the policing in the State with the main objective that the people of Telangana should feel safe and secure, especially women. The effort of establishing SHE teams and gaining success was not overnight. The purpose of organizing this training was to strengthen necessary skills and knowledge to handle the job in a qualitative manner, he added.

Swati Lakra, IG l&O and Women Safety explained on the focus and objectives of establishing SHE teams. The program was very successful and presently more than six other States have replicated the initiatives of women safety.  The responsibility of State police has increased with this, she added.

In this training program, classes on language and behaviour in receiving the petitioner, scientific and professional approach in investigation, following standard operating procedures, do’s and don’ts, submission of evidence, legal aspects related to crime against women, records maintenance, gender sensitization and so on were conducted. College students also shared their view about police and their expectations from police, especially the SHE teams. Dr Srinathachary, renowned psychologist and counselor spoke about gender sensitization.

Sumathi, SP, CID, has given a brief on initiatives taken by Women Safety wing. Some 60 participants were present. The trainees participated actively and were given course completion certificates at the end of the session by the IG, L&O, I/c WSW and SP, WSW. (NSS)
