Habitual fraudster held for cheating municipal chairpersons

Hyderabad : Today, Commissioner’s Task Force personnel nabbed a habitual fraudster Thota Balaji Naidu alias Naidu, who cheated and extorted money from municipal chairperson by impersonating as MA&UD Principal Secretary.   According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, the accused posed himself as MA&UD Principal Secretary in the office of Municipal Minister and Personal Director of Panchayat Raj Minister informed Municipal Chairmen of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over phone that Centre had  sanctioned several crore rupees for the Municipalities under various schemes and he would release the amounts if they paid money and cheated them.

Accused Balaji Naidu was a dismissed NTPC employee of Nazaarpeta, Tenali, Guntur District was involved in 32 cheating cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States. The accused cheated many public representatives since 2008. He was arrested by 14 police stations in Andhra  Pradesh and four cheating cases in Hyderabad and Cyberabad and was remanded to judicial

The Hyderabad City Police invoked PD Act against Thota Balaji Naidu in January 2016 and was lodged in Chanchalguda jail. After expiry of PD Act, he was released from jail in January last year. After release, the accused committed similar offences in the limits of Jubilee Hills, Kamalapuram of Kadapa District, Ananthapur, Poddature, Hindupur, Tirupati, Chilamathur Town, Dhone, Lepakshi of Anantapur District and Cyber Crime, Cyberabad police and was arrested and released in September this year. 

On a tip-off, the Commissioner’s Task Force Central Zone apprehended the accused today and handed over to Suryapet II Town PS. (NSS)
