HC gives green signal to hold degree PG exams

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court today gave a green signal to the state government to hold degree and PG exams in the state. It made it clear that the organization of the degree and PG exams was the policy decision of the state government and added that it can not interfere with it.

A division bench of the High Court has however asked the state government and other authorities to hold the exams by following COVID  19 norms.

The HC passed these orders while dealing with a batch of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against the organization of the exams amid the COVID 19 crisis.

The state government told the HC that it would hold the semester exams in a usual manner. It also said that it would consider all those who pass in the supplementary exams as regular students. The state government told the HC that the autonomous colleges could hold the exams at their convenient time. Intervening at this juncture, the counsel for the petitioners urged the HC to seek the schedule to hold the supplementary exams.

Responding to this the counsel for the JNTU said that they would hold the supplementary exams in two months’ time. Meanwhile, the JNTU exams would commence from Wednesday, and OU semester exams would commence from Thursday.
