High Court Declines to stop Kokapet land auction

The Telangana High Court today declined to stop the auction of government land in the Kokapet and Khanamet areas of the city.

The authorities of the state government made arrangements to auction 44.94 acres of land in Kokapet and 14.92 acres of land in Khanamet areas on Thursday. However, BJP leader Vijayasanti filed a petition in the HC urging it to stop the auction.

In her petition, she urged the HC to quash GO No.13 issued by the state government to auction the lands.

Arguing on behalf of the state government, the advocate general of the state BS Prasad told the HC that they were auctioning the lands in order to prevent their encroachment besides mobilizing funds.

On the other hand, the authorities are expecting to earn around Rs. 2500 crore by declined to stop auctioning the lands in Kokapeta alone.

They are saying that they are likely to get Rs. 45 crore to Rs. 50 crore per acre in the area.

The authorities have also taken up the construction of a trumpet to enter the area from Out Ring Road.
