High Court disapproves KCR Govt decision to demolish Erram Manzil

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court today disapproved the State government’s decision to demolish Erra Manzil, a heritage structure, and build a new Assembly building.

Hearing the petitions against demolition of heritage structure by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the court said everybody must follow the rules and nobody has exemption from the laws of the land. The petitioner on behalf of Nizam family heirs argued in the court against Chief Minister KCR’s plan to demolish the heritage structure. He urged the court to prevent the State government from demolishing the structure and protect it being the heritage structure.

The petitioner also argued that building a new Assembly building complex was colossal waste of public money and there was a need for protecting the structure under heritage structures Act. (NSS)
