High Court green signal to hold Parishad elections

The High Court of the State today gave its signal to hold  Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad elections in the State. A division bench of the HC set aside the orders of the single-judge bench of the court stating the entire election process.

 

It made it clear that the state election commission could hold the elections as per its schedule. It however asked the commission Tobit to declare the election results till the further orders of the court.

The secretary of the Commission Kanna Babu filed an appeal before the division challenging the stay order of the single judge bench issued on Tuesday. Arguing the case on behalf of the commission senior advocate CV Mohan Reddy said that the petitioner Varla Ramaiah had filed the petition in his personal capacity and not in the capacity of the TDP leader.

He made it clear that the petition was not maintainable as it was filed in a personal capacity and urged the HC to dismiss it. He also made it clear that the rule related to code could not He applied to the Parishad elections.

The HC expresses its anger over the commission by stating that the Petition filed by it didn’t have complete details.
