HMWS&SB staff gets ‘Health Insurance’ cover on par with government employees

With a view to ensure health security and to facilitate timely health treatment, the Telangana government has provided health insurance to the employees and pensioners of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) and their family members on par with government employees. In an event that was held today at Pragati Bhavan, The Minister Department of Municipal Administration and Urban Development K.Taraka Rama Rao distributed ‘Health Insurance Card’ among 5051 employees. The water board would bear the cost of a premium of Rs.678 crore yearly.

These health cards will cover a total number of 3,609 employees, 894 pensioners, 548 beneficiaries of family pensions, and nearly 10,000 family members of the employees. This would ensure the employees and pensioners to avail free medical treatment facility upto Rs.3 Lakhs at leading hospitals across the country. The health scheme covers ailments like hernia, cervical treatment, dentistry, congenital diseases, liver medicine, ENT Medical Services and dermatology.

The health insurance will cover an employee and a pensioner along with five dependent family member’s i.e. two children (boys under the age of 25 years and unmarried girls) besides both the parents. Maternity expenses upto 50,000 also be covered under the scheme. It also applies to annual checkups, Ayurvedic treatment through AYUSH and ambulance charges. This insurance facility was also extended to all the emergency medical services and telehealth services.

The event also saw the Presence of Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Special Principal Secretary to MoUD, Arvind Kumar, Managing Director HMWS&SB Dana Kishore besides the union leaders of water board employees.
