Hyderabad Ganesh Immersion: More than 17,000 police persons deployed

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said that thousands of Ganesh Idols from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Medak, Nalgonda and Mahboob Nagar Districts were expected to be immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake on September 23, while about 10 to 15 Lakh people were expected to participate in the final procession.

Elaborate security arrangements are made by deploying 17,000 police personnel for the Ganseh immersion in Hussainsagar lake in the city on September 23.

As many as 10,446 Idols have been installed as per records, around 14500 Idols from Hyderabad,Rachakonda, Cyberabad and R R Districts will be immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake and other places this Year, while 10,232 idols were given permission to install last year (2017), he said.

As many as 310 hypersensitive and 605 sensitive places have been identified for which pickets have been posted. Total 410 Mobile Parties are moving in the area for smooth conduct of the Ganesh Festival , the Commissioner said.

The City Security Wing of Hyderabad City Police is also deploying 16 Bomb Disposal Teams, 2 Access Control Teams at important Ganesh Pandal and Ganesh Temples. They are equipped with DFMDs, HFMDs, Prodder, Deep Search mine detector, under carriage mirror, explosive detector. The Anti-Sabotage Teams will be using the services of 22 Sniffer Dogs.
