Hyderabad: KTR reviews infrastructure works taken up around city

KT Rama Rao, Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD), reviewed the infrastructure works around the city, which were undertaken by the MA&UD department, on Tuesday.

FIA Formula E, which is all set to bring international attention to Hyderabad, Logistics Parks and link roads, and the possibility of setting up Wind Gardens on the lines of Madrid were reviewed in detail.

As part of the Strategic Road Development Plan, the Minister also reviewed the progress of flyovers and underpasses being built and proposed, the strengthening of the storm drainage system in and around the city as part of the Strategic Nala Development Programme, and the maintenance and restoration of main roads, including link roads, by the Comprehensive Road Maintenance Programme agencies.

The Minister stated that FIA Formula E will be successfully held and instructed the officials to expedite the link road construction. While executing road-related works, footpaths, junction improvements, and other related works should also be considered, he said.

Urban Development Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar, Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi, and others attended the meeting.

In recent years, Hyderabad has undergone a major infrastructure transformation and is now poised to become a world-class city with the implementation of SRDP Phase II by the State government.

KTR announced SRDP Phase II on Sunday. SRDP Phase I has dramatically changed Hyderabad, and Phase II works will soon begin, according to the Minister on Twitter.

Under Phase I of the SRDP, flyovers, underpasses, road over bridges, road under bridges, and steel bridges have changed the contours of the city infrastructure rapidly. With these infrastructure projects, Hyderabad’s small and narrow roads have been transformed into a massive network of flyovers, cable bridges, underpasses, etc.

With SRDP Phase II, the city infrastructure will go a notch higher with projects like Chandrayangutta Extension Flyover, Jubilee Hills Road Number 45 flyover, and Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge.
