Hyderabad police ask citizens to remain vigilant against burglaries

With people leaving for their hometowns to celebrate Dushera, police in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda have asked them to remain vigilant against burglaries. They have also asked citizens to be careful and take adequate precautions.

Burglaries occur when the occupants lock the door and leave the house. During the Dushera holiday, families in Hyderabad travel to their hometowns for a long vacation, making it a popular time for burglars to commit crimes.

As per the latest reports, police have asked residents to notify the local police station if they are leaving town, as the local beat constable will keep an eye on the house.

It is also worth mentioning that installing a central locking system will help greatly because traditional locks are visible to everyone and easily indicate that the inhabitants are not currently home.

Inform local relatives/friends/well-wishers to keep an eye on the house while you are away. Install surveillance cameras, keep the DVR in a safe place, and monitor activity in and around your home from your phone, a senior cop advised.

The police have also advised the public to limit their supply of newspapers and milk because unattended newspapers, emails, and milk packets piling up in front of a house indicate that the occupants are not at home.

It was also advised that before leaving, make sure that all doors, windows, terrace doors, and kitchen doors are securely locked and that the latches are in good working order. Ladders and other tools that could be useful in assisting the burglars should be removed.

The police have also planned an action plan for the Dushera holiday. It entails increased patrolling, checking suspects moving through neighborhoods, and keeping tabs on the movement of local and other state gangs of property offenders.
