Hyderabad Police Bans Kite Flying on Roads for Sankranti Safety

Police Commissioner C.V. Anand has issued strict prohibitory orders to regulate kite flying and loudspeaker usage during Sankranti celebrations in Hyderabad, prioritizing public safety and maintaining law and order. The orders, in effect from 6 a.m. on January 13 to 6 a.m. on January 15, aim to prevent accidents, breaches of peace, and other untoward incidents.

According to a notification, kite flying on thoroughfares has been banned to ensure public safety and prevent disruptions to traffic. The Commissioner also directed that loudspeakers and DJs should not be used in public spaces without prior permission from the concerned police authorities.

Highlighting safety concerns, Commissioner Anand advised parents to monitor their children closely while flying kites. He urged them to avoid flying kites from terraces without parapet walls and running on roads or other unsafe locations. “Parents should educate children about the dangers of electrocution while attempting to retrieve kites from electric poles,” he stated.

The Commissioner also cautioned against forcibly collecting wood for bonfires, emphasizing that revelers must only use wood with the owner’s consent.Violators of these orders will face legal action under the Hyderabad City Police Act, the Environment (Protection) Act of 1986, and other relevant laws.

These measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of Hyderabad’s residents during the festive season while upholding peace and tranquility in the city.
