Hyderabad ranks among world’s most expensive cities

According to Mercer’s 2023 Cost of Living report, Hyderabad City is one of the most expensive cities in India, alongside Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, and Pune. In the survey, which was conducted in 227 cities across five continents and considered 200 factors such as transportation, food, clothing, accommodation, home appliances, and entertainment in each city, Hyderabad ranked 202nd.

Meanwhile, Mumbai, India, is ranked 147th among the most expensive cities in the world, followed by Delhi 169, Chennai 184, Bangalore 189, Kolkata 211, and Pune 213. On the international front, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Zurich are in the top three positions, with Havana, Karachi, and Islamabad in Pakistan being reported as the most expensive cities.

According to the report, the cost of living in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Pune is half that of Mumbai, and the cost of accommodation in Kolkata is very low for foreign workers.

Hyderabad one of the safest cities in the country

According to a crowd-sourced global database, Mangaluru, a coastal city in Karnataka, was named the safest city in India, while Hyderabad ranked tenth. According to Numbeo, Mangaluru, India’s safest city, is ranked 47th safest in the world.

Gujarat’s top three cities, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Surat, rank second, third, and fourth, respectively. These cities were ranked 95th, 99th, and 115th in the world.

Hyderabad is the 192nd safest city in the world, ranking 10th in India. It outperforms cities such as Melbourne, Frankfurt, Istanbul, Auckland, New York, Dublin, Jakarta, and Tehran.

Other IT hubs, such as Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Noida, performed worse than Hyderabad, with rankings of 14, 15, and 16 in India and 290, 295, and 305.
