Hyderabad to Kazakhstan Direct Flights in the Works: Discussions Underway for Strengthening Bilateral Ties

His Excellency Dr. Nawab Mir Nasir Ali Khan, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hyderabad for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, today meet with the Hon’ble Governor of Telangana, Shri Jishnu Dev Varma, at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad. This high-level discussion followed Dr. Khan’s recent official visit to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, where significant strides were made toward enhancing bilateral relations between India and Kazakhstan, particularly in transportation, tourism, and trade.

A primary highlight of Dr. Khan’s briefing to the Governor was the progress made on establishing direct flights between Hyderabad and Astana. During his visit, Dr. Khan met with Yousuf Aljawder, Chairman of the Management Board of Astana International Airport, and His Excellency Talgat Lastayev, Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh officials expressed strong interest in launching direct flights between the two cities, with plans to visit Hyderabad by the end of the year. The purpose of their visit will be to hold discussions with GMR Airport and Indian airline operators to facilitate the initiation of these operations, potentially creating a new air corridor between the regions.

In addition to aviation, Dr. Khan highlighted ongoing efforts to boost tourism between India and Kazakhstan. He held talks with Mr. Kairat Sadvakassov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “National Company Kazakh Tourism.

” Both parties explored opportunities for joint tourism promotion initiatives. To further strengthen tourism ties, Mr. Sadvakassov is scheduled to visit Hyderabad in November-December 2024 to organize a tourism promotion program in collaboration with the Consulate of Kazakhstan in Hyderabad.

Trade relations were also a focal point of Dr. Khan’s discussions in Kazakhstan. His meeting with His Excellency Kairat Torebayev, Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, centered on expanding export and import activities between the two nations, particularly in the booming sectors of pharmaceuticals and information technology. Both sides acknowledged the immense potential for growth in these industries, which could pave the way for enhanced economic cooperation.

Dr. Khan expressed his gratitude to Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma for his continued support in fostering closer ties between India and Kazakhstan. The meeting underscored the growing cooperation between the two nations across various sectors and the promising future of India-Kazakhstan relations.

The developments, especially the prospects of direct flights, are seen as a game-changer for trade, tourism, and people-to-people connections between Hyderabad and Kazakhstan, marking a new chapter in diplomatic and economic cooperation.
