Hyderabad to receive two modern markets built by GHMC

In the coming future, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to build two more modern markets, one in Ameerpet at a value of Rs 13.2 crore, and one in Punjagutta at a value of Rs 6.7 crore.

Each market will be a four-story structure with a cellar and stilt floor for parking two-wheelers and four-wheelers. On May 11, the GHMC Standing Committee approved proposals to build these markets.

The market that will be built in Ameerpet will cover 1,174 square yards, while the market in Punjagutta will cover 801 square yards. The Ameerpet Modern Market will have 82 shops, according to GHMC officials.

The first floor will have 19 shops and two offices, while the second, third, and fourth floors will have 21 shops each, officials said.

Punjagutta Modern Market will have 45 shops and two rooms for offices.

On the first floor, there will be eight shops and two rooms. GHMC officials said they will build 13, 11 and 13 shops on the second, third and fourth floors, respectively.

Cities are always characterized by their thriving markets. Hyderabad has seen marked changes in these markets, which are part of everyday life for its citizens, in recent years, with better facilities being added.

Street vendors will benefit from these modern markets, which will protect them from the heat and rain. Existing markets will be demolished, as they are dilapidated.

Currently, vendors and hawkers at these places are often exposed to harsh weather and dust since they do not have proper shelters to set up their stalls. Moreover, the products they sell, including meat, are exposed to dust and flies.

The vendors will operate from new buildings once the new facilities are inaugurated, so these issues will be resolved. In addition to platforms for displaying vegetables, adequate seating for vendors in front of their stalls, bulbs, fans, and parking spaces.
