“I’d a 30% chance of death”- Rana Daggubati opens up on his health

Bahubali star, Rana Daggubati, spoke up on his health condition on a talk show featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu for the first time in months after rumours his alleged illness and a kidney transplant started gaining the attention of social media users.

The actor, in an emotional outburst, told the actress in her show, ‘Sam Jam’, that he had been very sick as he was diagnosed with serious heart issues and kidney failures.

Confirming the speculations that he had earlier thrashed, Rana said he had “calcifications around the heart and… failed kidneys”. He further added that there was a 70% possibility of him suffering from either a stroke or a hemorrhage while the rest 30% directed to his death.

“When life was on fast forward, there came a pause button… there was BP (blood pressure), calcification around your heart and you have failed kidneys… It would have been a 70 percent chance of stroke or a haemorrhage and 30 percent chance of death,” said the 35 year old actor.

When the host, Samantha, praised his bravery of handling the tough situation strongly and coming out of the dark tunnel into the light successfully, the recently married south superstar broke down to tears. However, he cheered himself up and showed a thumbs-up to the audience while wiping his tears.

The full episode that is yet to be telecasted had a part of it shared on social media as a promotional video. This video was the emotional clip of the actor speaking about his health and how he victoriously battled the illness. More details are expected to be a part of the show that also features filmmaker Ashwin Nag on the couch.

Rana Daggubati had sent his fans on a panic tour after the pictures he posted on his Instagram profile showed a visibly thin version of the actor. He was later told to be travelling to the US for undergoing a surgery. However, Rana dismissed the rumours while saying that the trip was for a film and not for medical reasons. He has to research regarding his next project and meet visual effects companies for other films, he had said.

When the Bhallala Deva of Bahubali, the character he is famous for, posted a congratulatory post for the release of Devarakonda’s “Dear Comrade”, users commented asking about his surgeries and his visible loss of weight in other pictures. While he told the former to “stop reading that stuff”, he told the latter that he “cannot look like a monster all the time”. When in conversation with IANS in June, he had called his health speculations a “boring topic”.

In October last year, the actor had posted an advertisement for a specific bank on his Instagram account featuring him. Users were quick to notice his extremely leaner form and expressed their concerns regarding his health. “What have you done to your body?”, “Why so skinny?”, read the questions lined up on the actor’s comments section.

He seems to have finally put the questions to rest through the episode of Sam Jam which is slated to be telecasted on November 27th on aha video app.

Rana Daggubati, who has also starred in Bollywood movies like Baby, The Ghazi Attack, Dum Maaro Dum and others, got married in August this year to entrepreneur Miheeka Bajaj.
