If you have guts, book cases against me: KTR challenges city Union Minister

In a statement, Hyderabad Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao challenged the city union minister to book a case against him and not engineers and other staff of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation who were laying new roads to ease traffic congestion in the IDPL area of the city.

“If you have the guts, book cases against me as I am the Municipal Administration Minister and the State government, but don’t stall development works,” Rama Rao stated, including that the new roads being laid in the IDPL area were a long-pending demand of the citizens.

He attacked the BJP government at the Centre for discriminating against Telangana and called on it to end its obstacles to Telangana’s development, and if possible, extend support to the country’s youngest state.

He said the State government has appealed to the Central government to allot defense land in the Secunderabad area for the construction of skyways, but no response has been received.

He urged the State BJP leaders to prevail on the Central government to allot the defense lands for development, adding: “I assure that Hyderabad will be transformed into a city with the best infrastructure in the country.”

BJP’s top brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, will be in the city next week to participate in party meetings, Rama Rao said after inaugurating the Khaitlapur Road over Bridge.

“In Gujarat, the Prime Minister laid foundation stones for projects worth Rs 20,000 crore. In addition, he had announced mega projects in other cities, but there is no clarity on such assurances since the Prime Minister failed to fulfill most of his promises,” he said.

Despite supporting Gujarat with Rs 1,000 crore, the Modi government did not help Hyderabad when heavy rains hit last October, he said, pointing out Telangana was not even provided with Rs 1,000. He questioned the BJP leaders in Hyderabad about what they would do if the Central government failed to support Telangana, slamming its discrimination against the state.

According to the Minister, the BJP government assured Ram Rajya but ended up revealing Ravana’s horrors. In order to cover up its failures, especially in providing employment and economic development, the BJP instigated communal differences and created unrest.

He said the controversial Agnipath scheme introduced by the BJP government shattered the hopes of youth who wanted to join the Armed Forces.

Speaking against the claim from the same union minister that Agnipath will train youngsters as barbers, washermen, drivers, and electricians, Rama Rao asked: “Does the youth join the armed forces for these things?”

As the Minister pointed out, the promise of eradicating black money within 50 days of demonetization went kaput, as did the promise of depositing Rs 15 lakh in bank accounts. Rama Rao asked if anyone received the Rs 15 lakh deposited in their bank account, adding that the youth and households were all worried under BJP rule.
