The Imam of a mosque in Bhensia Village, Moradabad District, was tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants on Tuesday morning. The incident has sparked tension in the village, prompting the deployment of additional police forces.
The victim, Maulana Akram, originally from Rampur District, had been residing in Bhensia Village for the past 15 years, serving the local mosque. According to initial reports, the assailants, who appeared to be known to Maulana Akram, called him out of the mosque before shooting him at point-blank range.
Local authorities were quick to respond. “The body is being sent for post-mortem, and additional forces have been deployed in the village to maintain order,” said a spokesman for the Katghar police. As of now, further details regarding the motive and identities of the assailants remain unclear, with investigations ongoing.
