Intellectuals flay supply of erroneous study material to Urdu students

In the absence of proper patronage to Urdu language from Telangana Government and lack of supervision of preparation of literature in Urdu Academy, the students studying in Urdu medium are suffering hard other than the community itself.

What could be more appalling than the supply of erroneous literature from the government agency itself that left the students and the parents bewildered? This has come to light recently when few of the parents of undergraduate students pursuing Bachelor of Arts from Urdu Medium made a complaint to Director Telangana State Urdu Academy about the slew of goof ups in the literary books of History, Economic and Political Science being provided to students.

Apart from typographical errors, it is said that the whole study material carries blunder and misinterpretations of historic records and references.

“The history book alone on several instances carries mismatches about the historic accounts and references more specifically about the nobles of Qutub Shahi dynasty of erstwhile Hyderabad state. Page No. 13, 237 and 238, etc are the few excerpts of the history book that give more insight into the flawed approach being adopted during preparation of the study material,” rued Syed Tariq Quadri, President All India Majlis Inquilab-e-Millat (AIMIM-I)

In an example of inversion of principles, he said, the work to prepare study material was assigned to non PhD candidates against the rules that might be the primary reason behind slew of goof ups crept inside the syllabus. “As per rules, the authors of the book should be subject specific experts having doctorate in the concerned subject. However, the content of study material clearly speaks that no such standard was taken into consideration while preparing the literature. No doubt, the kind of stuff being distributed will leave a negative impact on the conscience of the students and cause irreparable damage to our culture and history,” blame Syed Quadri.

Urging the Urdu Academy to recollect the erroneous study material and revised the same on priority bases, he demanded that the government should initiate a probe into the matter before the study material turned into a ‘Stelae of the History of Muslim Rulers.’
