Apple is set to unveil the highly anticipated iPhone SE 4 on February 19, 2025, with some exciting upgrades that are sure to make it stand out. While the iPhone SE series has been known for its compact design and affordability, the upcoming iPhone SE 4 promises a much-needed makeover, delivering both performance and aesthetics at a competitive price point.
The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to ditch the traditional compact design of its predecessor, the iPhone SE 3, which had thick bezels. Instead, Apple is expected to give the SE 4 a fresh new look inspired by the iPhone 14, featuring an aluminium and glass build, flat edges, and possibly Apple’s Ceramic Shield for enhanced durability. The familiar Touch ID will likely be replaced with Face ID, aligning the SE 4 with Apple’s current iPhone lineup. The display is also getting a major upgrade, with slimmer bezels and a notch similar to the iPhone 14.
The iPhone SE 4 will sport a 6.1-inch OLED display, a significant upgrade over the iPhone SE 3’s 4.7-inch IPS LCD screen. This change promises improved contrast, deeper blacks, and more vibrant colors, though it will likely still feature a 60Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the SE 4 is expected to be powered by the A18 chipset, the same processor used in the iPhone 16. However, there is speculation that Apple could opt for the A17 Pro chipset, which would still offer excellent performance. Regardless of the final choice, the SE 4 is likely to support Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI features that require at least 8GB of RAM.

The iPhone SE 4 is also rumored to receive a significant boost in its camera department. It is expected to feature a 48-megapixel rear sensor, a major improvement over the iPhone SE 3’s 12-megapixel camera. The front camera is set to get a 24-megapixel sensor for improved selfies and video calls. In terms of battery life, the SE 4 is expected to come with a larger 3,279mAh battery, ensuring longer usage times.
Another exciting change is the move from the Lightning port to a USB Type-C for faster data transfer and charging speeds. The iPhone SE 4 might also include MagSafe wireless charging for convenience, and an Action Button similar to the one introduced with the iPhone 15 series, allowing users to customize shortcuts.
While all these upgrades sound promising, the price remains a crucial factor. The iPhone SE 4 is expected to be priced slightly higher than its predecessor but is still expected to stay under Rs 50,000 in India. The base variant could be priced at Rs 49,900, making it a more affordable option for those looking to get their hands on an iPhone without breaking the bank.
With these major upgrades in design, performance, camera, and battery, the iPhone SE 4 is shaping up to be a solid upgrade and a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone market. Stay tuned for the official launch event tomorrow to learn more about what Apple has in store for us!
