The government designated facility will start on April 15 at 4 am (Irish time). As per the rules, people coming from any of the mentioned countries or areas must book their quarantine accommodation in advance. The accommodations will be in government designated hotels. The payment for booking, accommodation and food shall be made online.

The general rate for an adult for the whole quarantine period is about 1,875 euros ($2230). Anybody who refuses to follow the rules or leaves the quarantine hotel before the mandatory period will be fined with 2,000 euros or may face a sentence of one-month imprisonment, or both.

However, people can leave the designated facility after they have tested negative on the 10th day of their quarantine period in Ireland. Diplomats, aircrew and the maritime crew may be exempted from the mandatory quarantine if they meet the other public health requirements by the Irish government.

Ireland started the implementation of the mandatory quarantine from March 26. So far, they have listed a total of 75 countries from where travellers have to be under 14 day quarantine. However, the list is subject to change. It can be found on the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
