“I’ve nothing to do with drugs”- actor Arjun Rampal after NCB’s interrogation

After the initial investigation, actor Arjun Rampal was called in again for questioning by the NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) over the Bollywood drug case started after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The actor went through over six hours of interrogation after which he left the government body’s office situated in southern Mumbai. While there, Mr. Rampal stated that the agency had found certain components during the raid at his house which are a part of a prescription.

Speaking about his cooperation in the probe, the actor said, “I am fully cooperating with the investigation. I have nothing to do with drugs. The medicine found at my residence was prescribed. The prescription has been found and handed over.”

The 47-year-old also praised the NCB officials for “doing a good job”. He added a statement about his support to the agency in the investigation.

Mr. Rampal’s girlfriend, Gabriella Demetriades also went through two rounds of questioning, each for nearly six hours on 11th and 12th November at the agency’s zonal office in Ballard Estate in South Mumbai after her brother, Agisialos Demetriades was found linked to a drug peddler. Agisialos was also arrested twice in the same matter.

During his interrogation, the agency also came to know about a certain Australian architect named Paul Bartel whom they later arrested and is due to appear before court today. The South African citizen, Agisialos, is presently under arrest of the NCB.

The actor’s Mumbai home was raided on Monday as a part of the drug investigation after which started the questioning.

The same day, NCB had also called in Firoz Nadiadwala post the raid of his Juhu home. However, Nadiadwala allegedly did not turn up.

On Sunday, the agency had arrested Nadiadwala’s wife Shabana Saeed, following the alleged discovery of 10gm marijuana in her possession during the house search.
This raid had started after a drug distributor, Wahid Abdul Kadir Shaikh, was arrested in Andheri a couple of days back.

Shaikh’s list of clients led the agency to Ms. Saeed from whom they seized 10gms of the banned product purchased from the drug peddler. However, she received bail on Tuesday.
Since the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, there has been an unfazing fog over Bollywood related to the use of drugs in the industry.

Within the past 2 months, actresses including Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakulpreet Singh have been summoned by the NCB for interrogation. According to the agency, these attempts are being made to crack the maze of drug use allegedly existing in the industry.

\The entire sequence started as the NCB found texts related to the purchase of drugs in Rhea Chakraborty, Late Sushant’s alleged girlfriend’s mobile phone.

The actress along with her brother Showik and other two former workers of Sushant were arrested for providing drugs for the actor.

Ms. Chakraborty was granted bail in October after spending a month in imprisonment.
The allegations and arrests have created havoc in the film industry with several actors being trolled and held absurdly guilty by social media users.
