Kantivelugu first in the country; KCR announces sops to Malkapur

Hyderabad: “Kantivelugu” Scheme is an exceptional and first of its kind in the country being launched by Telangana Government to provide complete eye-care services free of cost to 3.70 cr people in the state, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said.

Launching the Kantivelugu scheme at Malkapur village in Tupran mandal here along with Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, MP Keshava Rao and others, the chief minister gave away goggle sets to a few persons. Later, in a public meeting Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that the people irrespective of their economic conditions in the state needless to spend a single rupee to get eye treatment as the government will bear all the expenses.

The Government will sanction Rs 6 cr for development of the village which will provide double bedroom housing facility to the people he said. KCR also asked the officials concerned to complete the development works on a war-footing and vowed to get back to inaugurate the housing units. This effort has never been made so far in the history of the country and the youngest state has taken such a big task to provide eye care services to all its people he said.

“We have already purchased 40 lakhs of goggle sets to be distributed among the people and conduct operations for needed people for better eye sight he noted. Every village will get an eye camp to provide goggles, medicines and operations. We have appointed 825 medical teams for the purpose and everyone should make use of this program he said. I personally distributed goggle sets to a few persons and everyone will get tested for eye sight he said. He praised the village and appealed to people to shun the differences, avoid religion, caste feelings and gender bias.

There is no need for belittling the women who are second to none he said. KCR also cited that Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, ZP Chairperson, several officials IAS Officer Shanthi Kumari, Vakati Karuna and others are all women who are playing key roles at their level. Of course, there are some men who remain being hopeless he pointed out. He also called upon the people to keep away the problem of liquor and related difficulties. (NSS)
