Karnataka CM’s Political Secretary NR Santosh Attempts to Commit Suicide

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa’s relative and political secretary N.R. Santhosh allegedly attempted to commit suicide on Friday night.

Santhosh, 32-year-old and a resident of Dollar’s Colony Bengaluru.

Talking to reporters, the Chief Minister stated: “Doctors said that he is responding to the medications. He is still not out of danger completely. We are hoping for the best.”

A senior staff member from the CM office stated on the state of anonymity that Santhosh was upset over family problems and reportedly swallowed a lot of sleeping pills with an aim of committing suicide.

The official added that the reason for this action was clearly not yet known and the police are yet to register the case.

Mr. Santosh’s attempt to take his own life has set off speculations concerning what drove him to this end. N R Santosh had assumed a key function in toppling the JD(S)- Congress coalition government and bringing B. S. Yediyurappa to control.

In any case, he had allegedly fallen out with chief minister’s son B. Y. Vijayendra and was kept out of the house. Nonetheless, he made a rebound and was selected chief minister’s political secretary in May this year, however, had allegedly fallen out again and was allegedly asked to put in his papers, which reportedly bothered him, sources stated.

Denying these reports as “baseless rumors” sources in the chief minister’s family called attention to that Mr Santosh had marital differences over which he was upset about as of late. Yet, his spouse Jahnavi talking to media people on Saturday morning, denied they had any differences.

In the interim, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D. K. Shivakumar has directed a high-level investigation into the case.

He stated: “We had heard two months ago that a minister and an MLC were blackmailing him over a video they possessed. Even the chief minister may have been blackmailed. So this needs an impartial probe.”
