After facing a day long questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Delhi Liquor Scam on Monday, the BRS MLC K.Kavitha again appeared before the investigating agency today at about 11.30 am in the morning. As usual Kavitha saluted the party activists before getting into the car at her residence and showed a victory sign while leaving for ED office. She was accompanied by her husband Anil and a team of lawyers.
Earlier, Kavitha went into huddle with the legal experts and reportedly discussed key issues related to the investigation. Before leaving for ED’s office, she showed her personal mobile phones, wrapped under the polythene covers, to the media persons at her residence in Delhi and did it again after reaching the Investigating Agency’s office. It is pertinent to mention here that the investigating officials, during the first round of questioning, has accused Kavitha of destroying nearly 10 mobiles ever since the Liquor Scam came to fore.
The BRS MLC, in a letter placed before the ED, said that the allegation against me about destroying the mobiles I have been using in the past are baseless and a glaring act of malice on the part of the agency. I am hereby submitting all the earlier phones used by me in the past and sought by the agency.
“It is unfortunate that a premier agency like Enforcement Directorate is becoming a privy and party to these acts and sabotaging and sacrificing its sacrosanct duty of free and fair investigation at the altar of bested political interest [sic],” the letter said.
It is said that the ED officials took all the mobile phones in their custody after Kavitha handed over the same.
On Monday, soon after appearing out of the ED’s office after 10 ½ hours of questioning, Kavitha got into her car and left the place waving a victory sign to the party activists with a little smile on her face. However, she was apparently found tired and exhausted after the day-long questioning that began from 11.00 am in the morning and concluded only at 9.30 pm in the evening on Monday.
During the second round of questioning on Monday, Kavitha reportedly went through the process of interrogation in length in a room on the second floor of the ED office. Apart from male officials, a lady official too reportedly questioned Kavitha about her role in the scam.
Meanwhile, the security was beefed up at ED’s office. It is learnt that a section 144 was imposed before the office of the Enforcement Directorate in New Delhi ever since the BRS MLC K.Kavitha stepped into the office. With this speculation began about possible arrest of the BRS leaders today.
