KCR warns against communal violence that threatens peace

On Monday, Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) said the nation can banish ‘black sheep’ who threaten the country’s peace with communal violence.

Several people are using cheap and cunning tactics to undermine the peace in our country, he said. During the launch of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at HICC in Hyderabad, KCR requested that everyone collectively condemn such actions.

As he said in his speech, the country is only able to enjoy freedom because of many sacrifices.

The addition of Pondicherry, Goa, and Sikkim until 1975, and a lot of hard work, intelligence, and dedication have enabled us to enjoy our country as we know it today, he said.

There are still many problems in the country, he said. It is normal for people to protest and fight. Several revolts took place in Telangana before the freedom struggle, followed by the Naxal movement. Many communities are still fighting for their basic needs today. Minorities, including Dalits, complain about their struggles, he added.

Until poverty is eradicated, there will always be struggle and discomfort. The country will only be peaceful when poverty is mitigated, he said.

In his view, public servants should put aside differences and bigotry, keep an open mind, and work solely for the welfare of the nation.

KCR stated that it is deeply regrettable that Mahatma Gandhi is being disrespected today. Those who follow Gandhian principles resign themselves to their lives. KCR said that Gandhi was an important figure in his life growing up and that he respected his ideals. Please do not tolerate any insult to our Mahatma, he said.

Moreover, KCR urged youngsters to take advantage of the film festival being organized in the state and watch the film ‘Gandhi’, which will be screened in 563 cinemas. Furthermore, free screenings of films about freedom fighters and freedom struggles will be provided to students.
