KTR questions opposition parties’ allegations after Telangana outshines other states

Telangana completely dominated the Swacch Survekshan Grameen rankings late last week, demonstrating its strong position in urban sanitation and cleanliness activities.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao questioned the logic of opposition parties’ allegations that the State government was not doing enough, citing Union government rankings.

While Telangana was ranked first in the Swacch Survekshan Grameen rankings, the state’s municipalities won 16 Swachh awards.

He took to Twitter on Monday and wrote: “Telangana tops the Nation in Swachh Sarvekshan Grameen rankings… Telangana Municipalities win 16 awards in Swachh rankings… Many rankings & indices of Govt of India show the state on the Top… Opposition in Telangana says our Govt hasn’t done much! Wonder what perverse logic this is?”

Targeting opposition parties for using money and liquor to sway voters, IT Minister KT Rama Rao also said on Thursday that political rivals who want to contest against him in the Sircilla elections should do good work rather than distribute money and liquor.

As per the reports, the Minister advised his own party workers and leaders to focus on working for the public good, saying he had contested the Sircilla constituency in four Assembly elections but had never distributed money or liquor to get votes.

Unwilling to delve into unethical behavior by opposition candidates during elections, the Minister stated that he does not like getting votes by distributing money and liquor to voters.

“Rather than luring voters with money and liquor, opposition candidates who want to contest against me must win the hearts of the people by doing more good than me,” he said.

Many political leaders make big promises and discuss various topics at various stages, but doing something good for the public would provide more satisfaction, he added.
