KTR warns serious action against polluting industries

Hyderabad: Industries and IT Minister KT Rama Rao today warned of closing down the pollution causing industries if they failed to mend ways of following norms. He laid foundation for construction of an Effluent Treatment Plant near the industrial area of Pasha Mailaram near Patancheruvu along with MLA Mahipal Reddy, MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, TSIIC Chairman G Rajamallu and officials.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR said that Rs 104.24 cr being spent for the plant to be completed in six months by December and open an ITI at Pasha Mylaram. Stating that the previous governments ignored increased problem of pollution and the TRS government will not tolerate as the industries should pro green policy and check pollution levels he said. The Minister took serious exception to the industrialists for hazardous practices like injecting effluents into the already dug up bore wells polluting ground waters.

KTR said the government will not tolerate and take stringent action against such industries increasing pollution instead of treating industrial effluents. We have already closed down 13 to 16 polluting industries in the recent past and the industries should now take steps against pollution to provide favourable atmosphere. Our steps are against pollution and create a free environment to posterity he stated. He also said that as many as 283 industries will be shifted to Hyderabad Pharma City as 1122 industries were categorized as red and orange units. Clarifying that pollution control steps being taken for the new industries to be set up beyond outer ring road he said that world class Pharma city will be set up with green steps. Plans are afoot to treat fluid effluents he added. (NSS)
