Maha Govt. ask police to be vigil after MNS ultimatum against Azaan

Taking serious note of the ultimatum from MNS party Chief Raj Thackeray, the Maharashtra government has issued instructions to district administrations asking them not to allow use of any new loudspeaker at any religious place in their jurisdictions without any prior permission from local police.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray issued an ultimatum to the state government asking it to remove all the loudspeakers from Mosques in the state by May 3 or else his party will do it in its own style.

He threatened to recite Hanuman Chalisa in a much higher volume outside the mosques the moment Azaan starts blaring up from the loudspeakers.

To ensure law and order in the state, Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil held a meeting with senior police officials that include DGP Rajnish Seth and Commissioner Police Mumbai Sanjay Panday where the law and order situation was discussed in length. The Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil instructed the police officials not to allow use of new loudspeakers at any religious place without prior notice after May 3.

Later, the Home Minister also issued a statement that DGP Rajnish Seth and Mumbai Police Chief Sanjay Panday will draft guidelines on the use of loudspeakers and will be made public in a couple of days for implementation.

Meanwhile, reacting over the violence incidents on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jatanti celebrations in Delhi and several other states, the former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Majhi said that “Time has come to impose a ban on all sorts of religious processions in the country.”

“The unity and integrity of the country appears to be in jeopardy due to these religious processions and it needs to be checked immediately,” felt the Hindustani Awam Morch (HAM) leader while reacting on his twitter account.
