Massive Blast at Ordnance Factory in Bhandara Claims Eight Lives

A devastating explosion rocked an ordnance factory in Bhandara district, Maharashtra, on Friday morning, leaving eight workers dead and seven others injured. The blast, which occurred around 10:30 am in the factory’s LTP section, caused widespread destruction and trapped over a dozen workers under debris.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the fatalities during an event later in the day. “In Bhandara, at the ordnance factory, a major mishap has taken place, resulting in the death of eight people and injuries to seven others. This is preliminary information,” the minister stated while urging attendees to observe a minute’s silence to honor the victims of the “unfortunate incident.”

District Collector Sanjay Kolte provided initial details, stating that the explosion was so intense it caused the roof to collapse, trapping workers inside. Emergency services, including firefighters and medical teams, were deployed to the scene immediately. Rescue efforts, aided by an excavator to clear debris, resulted in the recovery of three survivors and one deceased worker in the early stages of the operation.
