Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy today asserted there was no shortage of Urea in the State. He stoutly rejected the comments of Congress that a farmer died in Dubbaka on failing to get urea. He asserted that the death was natural and there was no truth in the Congress charges.
Speaking to mediapersons at Agritex 2019 expo near Hitec city, the minister said, “We have adequate stocks of urea in the State and the farmers need not worry about it”. Slamming Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka for making false charges on the urea stocks, the minister said the Centre first shifted Urea stocks to Karnataka instead of Telangana State causing delay in Urea arrival. Due to floods in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh States, urea lorries arrived late. He also assured that the government would help kin of deceased farmer and distribute cheques to all those under Rythu Bandhu scheme.
Stating that the government has instructed the officials concerned to immediately release funds to farmers under Rythu Bandhu and Rythu bhima schemems, Niranjan Reddy said the State government was implementing welfare schemes for farmers, including 24-hour power supply and crop investment of Rs 5,000 per season. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on boosting farm activity to reap benefits, he claimed. He also said the Agriculture and marketing wings were being strengthened to ensure farmers timely payment for the produce sold. (NSS)
