Hyderabad: In the wake of rains filling lakes, ponds, tanks and water bodies across the State, several ministers today dropped fish seedlings into them in districts.
Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav dropped fish seedlings and shrimps in Kool Sagar project under the Kaleshwaram irrigation lift project along with officials and local leaders. He said the State government has decided to help fishermen in districts by offering 100 percent subsidy and drop fish and shrimp in the lakes, tanks and water bodies.
Srinivas Yadav said they will drop fish seedlings into some 25,000 lakes, tanks and water bodies in 15 days. The government has decided to push rural economy through free dropping of fish seedlings into the water bodies. A total of Rs 52 crore worth 80.86 crore fish and five crore shrimps will be dropped into the lakes and tanks in rural areas, he said.
Other ministers Errabelli Dayakar Rao dropped fish into water bodies in Warangal district and Indrakaran Reddy in Swarna project. (NSS)
