More OHSR tanks and pipelines to address water issue in Maheshwaram

To address drinking water issues in Maheshwaram Constituency, the Minister for Education P.Sabita Indra Reddy today convened a review meeting with the officials of Mission Bhagiratha.

“Already most of the works to provide tap water has been completed under the project,” She said adding that “Rest of the work will be done expeditiously. Steps should be taken to find a permanent solution to the drinking water problem in Maheshwaram constituency.”

While disclosing that additional fund to the tune of Rs 2 crores has been sanctioned for Over Head Service Reservoir (OHSR) tanks and pipelines in ten villages of the constituency, the minister said “Old and dilapidated tanks would be replaced with the new one besides setting of new tanks where it is needs using the fund sanctioned. She asked the project officials to complete the work within the next 45 days.”

Elaborating about the works being sanctioned, the minister said, “Out of the sanctioned funds, Rs 22 lakh will be spend in Kollapadakal village, Rs 20 Lakh in Porandla and Gangaram Tanda, Rs.12 Lakh in Nagaram village, Rs.29 Lakh in Kandukur Gate under Kandukur zone, Rs.20 Lakh at Pochamma temple in Kothaguda village, Rs.12 Lakh at Padmavati Colony, Rs.22 lakh at Gudur village and Rs.12 Lakh at Bachupally and Chippalapally villages for the construction of OHSR tanks.”

The minister directed the officials to ensure that no issue will be raised due to shortage of drinking water as summer season is fast approaching. He said that the government will always work for the creation of minimum facilities for the people.

Though the measures are being taken to address water shortage in Maheshwaram constituency, a lot more needs to be done to resolve the issue as still there are several villages and hamlets not yet completely brought under the ambit of Mission Bhagiratha project, the flagship program of the TRS government.
