Narco-terror module exposed by J&K police, 6 booked

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police department has busted a Narco-terror module in central Kashmir’s Budgam district along with the support of security forces. They have arrested six alleged terrorist links of the highly condemned terror body, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

According to the reports and statements from the police, based on a credible source, the police officials with the army and CRPF have taken under arrest six of the terrorists associated with the terror group. They have been identified as Mudassir Fayaz resident of Kralpora, Shabir Ganaie resident of Wathoora, Sageer Ahmad Poswal resident of Kupwara, Issaq Bhat and Arshid Thoker both residents of Shopian and a minor, whose identity has been withheld, from Chadoora area of Budgam.

Incriminating evidence in the form of materials, arms and ammunition have been found from the terrorists. These include one Chinese pistol, one Pistol Magazine, four Pistol rounds, one Hand grenade, cash of one lakh fifty thousand (Rs. 1,50,000) and narcotic substance Heroine in one kg weight were recovered from their possession.

“As per police records they were in close connection with Pakistan-based terror handlers and were involved in drug trade, supply of weapons besides assisting financially to active terrorists of proscribed terror outfit JeM,” police said in a statement. “The recoveries also exposed the inter connection between drug dealers and terrorists.”

“A Chinese pistol, a pistol magazine, four pistol rounds, a hand grenade and 1 kg heroin were recovered from the arrested militant associates,” the officer added.

Police said a case under UA(P) Act and NDPS Act of law has been registered and further investigation in the matter is in progress. The case has been booked at the Chadoora police station in Jammu and Kashmir.

Last month, the j&k police had arrested three newly recruited terrorists in a joint operation at Sogam of Kupwara. They had been identified as Zakir Ahmad Bhat, Abid Hussain Wani and a third unidentified person. All had recently joined the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror group. This was after the J&K police had busted another terror module of the same organization, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Awantipora sector of Pulwama district

According to the information provided by the police, the module consisted of four sympathizers and associates of the Pakistan-based terrorist outfit who carried out the logistics of the group and given shelter to terrorists.
