NCB arrests SRK’s son Aryan Khan in drugs abuse case following raid

The Narcotics Control department of India has arrested actor Shahrukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in connection with the drugs abuse matter following a raid.

The NCB or Narcotics Control Bureau had conducted the raid on Sunday at a party on a cruise sailing on the Mumbai sea waters. Along with the 23-year-old, 7 others were also questioned in the case.

According to the agency, they have collected 22 pills of MDMA, 21 grams of charas and 13 grams of cocaine during the raid. Aryan khan faces charges of possession, purchase of use of the banned products.

Speaking about the raids, the department had stated earlier that post the interrogation of the 8 people, which includes 2 women, “further action will be taken”.

Before Aryan’s arrest was confirmed, Shahrukh Khan was seen leaving his home for the lawyer’s office.

Apart from his son, the 7 people questioned were Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, Gomit Chopra, Munmun Dhamecha, Arbaaz Merchant and Vikrant Chhoker. From these, 3 were made to undergo a medical test, including Aryan Khan. A video, allegedly captured after the raids, show the Bollywood star’s son with department officials.

As per sources, officers had got onto the cruise posing as passengers. The party on the ship started following the vessel’s departure from the Mumbai port.

Many types of drugs were recovered from the suspects that were hidden in purses, clothes and undergarments, according to an NCB official.

A senior officer said, “Their statements are being recorded. Based on the facts, arrests will be made and the accused will be produced in the NDPS court.”

Meanwhile, the cruise company denied any involvement in the incident through a statement issued by its CEO, Jurgen Bailom, “Cordelia Cruises is in no way, directly or indirectly, connected to this incident. Cordelia Cruises had chartered its ship for a private event to a Delhi-based event management company.”

The President of the Waterways Leisure Tourism Pvt Ltd further said, “We, at Cordelia Cruises, condemn all acts such as these and will strictly refrain from letting our ship out for similar events in the future. Nonetheless, Cordelia Cruises is extending our full support and cooperating with the authorities.”

This marks the first drugs recovery incident since the seizure of thousands of kilos of heroin in Gujarat. The Congress claimed on Sunday that the cruise raid was the Centre’s effort to distract people from the “real issue” at the Mundra port.

In early August, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence had seized nearly 3,000 kg of heroin from Gujarat. Another 37 kg of the drug and quantities of cocaine or a substance suspected to be the banned entity was seized from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida and Delhi.
