New road planned from Osmania Hotel to Kothapet in Jalpally soon

Following completion of three road projects this year by miraculously using funds under Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS), the Jalpally municipality has now planned to roll out its fourth road project soon.

According to officials, the municipality earned revenue of a total amount of Rs.4 crore under Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS) in the year 2020. However, as per rules the municipality could be able to utilize only 70 percent of the fund. It is said that a total number of 14,000 applications has been received under the LRS scheme from both individuals and for layout category. Since the flow of funds from the government is fewer than allocated, the officials of Jalpally Municipality are rolling out proposals only on priority basis.

“So far three road projects have been executed this year. Now the municipal council gave approval to another such proposal from Osmania Hotel to Kothapet area with an estimated cost of 2.5 crores. This 1.8 kilometer road proposal is presently waiting for technical sanctioning and hopefully it will get cleared soon,” informed Abdalla Sadi, Chairman Jalpally Municipality.

“Among all the four projects under the LRS scheme, the road from Osmania Hotel to Kottapet is a major one to be laid soon,” he said, adding that “The stretch is narrow in its appearance at several locations. The council has mooted an idea to lay the road by widening the bottlenecks at several points. Later, the proposal was placed before the council. The road will be widened to 6 meters at narrowed points while 7 meters at open areas with sufficient space.”

“Three projects that so far completed include a road from Bismillah Colony to Shaheen Nagar, another from Wadi-e-Omer to Shah Hills and third from SBI Bank to Pragna School in Sri Ram Colony has already been completed,” Explained Abdallah Sadi.
