NGO warned Govt.of Legal Action Against Firework Show At Tank Bund

Taking serious note of the bursting of crackers to celebrate ‘Sunday-Funday Programme’ rolls out recently at Tank Bund also known as Hussain Sagar Lake, the ‘Hyderabad Clean Air Network’ has sent a pinching legal notice to Principal Secretary MA&UD, The Commissioner HMDA and the Chairman TSPCB urging them all to refrain from polluting ambient temperature of the area or else it would compelled to initiate legal action through public interest litigation.

While representing the NGO – a group of Public Spirited Citizens, the Advocate B.V.Seshagiri in his notice has squarely emphasized the serious repercussions of bursting crackers on the ambient environment during the event – that was conducted on September 25 and October 3, and the potential threat to the habitation exists around the lake area.

Holding responsible all the three primary departments – that flaming up a new fervour of Firework Show at Tank Bund area regardless of the potential threat to human life on the ground and the subterranean aquatic life, he urged them to desist from conducting firework show that if performed with true letter and spirit couple with folk shows would surely mean more about the taste of Telangana’s rich culture and tradition. He suggested that the government programs should propagate and implement the National Green Tribunal orders with letter and spirit.

While dragging the attention towards the ban of Sale of Fire sparklers by the High Court in the year 2020 before the Deepavali festival along with a mention of the Supreme Court conditional orders restricting the sale and bursting of crackers, the advocate call upon the Chairman Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) to coordinate with rest of the two departments such as Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) and The Commissioner Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority and ensure that no display of firework show should be perform henceforth especially in the government sponsored programs.

The notice that served by B.V.Seshagiri – who is also a prominent RTI and socio-political activist, sought a reply from authorities regarding the measures explaining about remedial measures being taken in response to the notice failing which shall constrained the petitioner to initiate necessary legal action that may comes in form of Public Interest Litigation in High Court in the larger public interest where all three respondents would be held completely accountable.
