NIRDPR honored 75 differently able with ‘Hunarbaaz Awards’

On the occasion of birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay on September 25, the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (NIRDPR) Hyderabad conferred ‘Hunarbaaz Awards’ to 75 differently abled candidates who were trained through Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Grameen Kaushalya Yojna (DDU-GKY) and Rural Self Employment training Institutes (RSETI).

Both flagship programs of Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India are aimed promoting entrepreneurs through skill training and upgrading rural youth with poor background to tackle unemployment issues.

During a virtual event organized by NIRD-PR Rajendranagar in collaboration with Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), State Rural Livelihood Missions (SRLM) and Rural Self-Employment Training Institutes (RSETI), the 75 disabled youths belongs to 15 different states received the ‘Hunarbaaz Awards through the hands of CEOs of SRLMs and Directors of RSETIs.

The event was graced by Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development (GoI), Nagendra Nath Singh, Director General of NIRDPR G.Narendra Kumar IAS, Addl.Secretary Ministry of Rural Development (GoI) Alka Upadhyay and Joint Secretary (Skills) Ministry of Rural Development (GoI) Amit Kataria IAS along besides CEOs and Directors of SRLM and RSETIs.

While addressing the gathering as chief guest, the Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development (GoI), Nagendra Nath Singh said, “providing right opportunity to Divyang (Disabled) will help them fly higher and this could be proven by the differently abled sportspersons who have bewildered everyone through their performance in a recently held Paralympics in Japan.

Besides other dignitaries, few of the disabled candidates too addressed the event and recalled their school of hard knocks and the change the skill training program brought to them.
