NSUI meets HRC opposing UGC guidelines for exams

Hyderabad: The UGC Guidelines to conduct exams during this pandemic is a violation of Students’ Right to Life guaranteed by the Constitution of India, according to Balmoori Venkat, Telangana NSUI State President. Balmoral Venkat along with the NSUI State Committee submitted around 12000 letters to Telangana State Human Rights Commission from the students of 31 Districts of Telangana.

The letters were stating requests from the students to cancel all sorts of examinations& to promote students to the next academic year.

While addressing the media TS NSUI State President Balmoor Venkat added that the UGC Guidelines to conduct the exams during this pandemic is a violation of Students’ Right to Life guaranteed by the Constitution of India.

He also stated that the government wants to conduct exams amidst the coronavirus crisis but recently there has been a rapid surge in the number of Covid-19 cases. Many parts of the country are wrestling with a high number of corona cases thus making it unsafe for students to travel. Being in the community transmission stage nobody no longer knows who’s affected with the virus. Also, another factor that holds prime importance is public transport as it is not working at it’s optimum and it could serve as a potential hub for the spread of the virus. Universities, colleges, and schools are conducting online classes. Conducting online classes is discriminatory to the marginalized sections of society.

There is a digital disparity in the country and a major section of the society doesn’t have access to digital infrastructure. The digital infrastructure is primordial in the rural and semi-urban regions of our country. Another point that was added is that the country is not just facing a healthcare crisis but is also facing an economic crisis due to an unplanned nationwide lockdown.

In such times the educational institutions are demanding a hefty fee which is adding financial burden and miseries to the lives of people. So, in this crisis students of all districts from Telangana submitted us their problems written in letters & we on behalf of Telangana NSUI submitted the letters to Stare Human Rights Commission today.

Ranga Reddy District President Emmadi Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Medchal District President Rahul Yadav, Suryapet District President Ambedkar, Sangareddy District President Balvanth Reddy, National Delegate Yedama Pavan, Medchal District Vice President Lalith, Medchal District General Secretary Vinay, Sanga Reddy District General Secretary Vinay & Students Participated the Programme.
