Hyderabad: Delayed process of election to the mayor and deputy mayor posts in GHMC will be taken up on February 11 at 11 am according to State Election Commission (SEC).
The SEC has said that a top official of IAS rank in the district will monitor the oath-taking of 150 Corporators at 11 am on February 11.
The SEC chief Partha Sarathi has issued notifications in this regard. There was a large spread of criticism by the BJP, the Congress, and left parties for the delay in administering the oath to elected 150 corporators in the polls held for GHMC’s new body.
The SEC chief said that the election to the mayor and deputy mayor posts to be followed by 12.30 noon hours on February 11 itself. If that is not possible on Feb 11 the same polls to be conducted in GHMC on the next day that is Feb 12, he clarified.
He instructed the officials to make all arrangements for the smooth conduct of the oath-taking and polls for Mayor and deputy mayor posts. A senior IAS will be asked to monitor this entire process, the SEC said. As per the SEC instructions, GHMC and other officials began the process for the same.
