Odisha Governor’s Wife Passes Away Because of Post-COVID Complications

Bhubaneswar: The First Lady of the State and spouse of Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Sushila Devi, has passed away at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.

She was going through treatment at the SUM Ultimate hospital because of post-COVID-19 complications and passed away on Sunday night.

The Governor’s office tweeted: “With profound grief and heavy heart, we inform that the First Lady of the State Smt Sushila Devi passed away yesterday night. Let us pray for the departed holy soul. Om Shanti!”

Governor Lal, his spouse, and four others of the family had tested positive for COVID-19 not long ago.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Busan Harichandan, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik, and many other leaders communicated grief at the dying of Sushila Devi.

A native of Hissar in Haryana she was a very religious lady having a passion for several socio-cultural activities. Sushila Devi is survived by her husband, three sons, and four daughters

Chief Minister portrayed her as a very warm and pious person.

He passed on his deepest sympathy to Governor Ganeshi Lal and other members of the bereaved family.

The AP Governor’s office tweeted: “Andhra Pradesh Governor Sri Biswabhusan Harichandan expressed profound grief and sadness at sudden passing away of First Lady of Odisha, Smt. Susheela Devi, wife of Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal.”

He said that she was a warm and kind person and actively partook in many programs for the welfare of the poor and needy.
