“Only Donald Trump is left to campaign in GHMC polls”- Owaisi’s dig at BJP

In a sarcastic comment during one of the campaigns for the GHMC elections slated to be held on December 1st, AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi said told BJP that the only person left now to promote and rally for the party is Donald Trump.

Mr. Owaisi’s comments have come as the Centre’s ruling party has deployed its prominent leaders all participating actively in the campaigns for the municipal elections, the polls that will decide the next Mayor of Hyderabad.

The Langer House rally of Saturday witnessed the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) saying that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections did not merely look a municipal poll now but rather one to decide the fate of the nation by electing its Prime Minister.

Mr. Owaisi’s address to the public mentioned the accusations BJP leaders have directed at him along with Tejaswi Surya’s remarks of Mohammed Ali Jinnah. He said, “The Hyderabad election has been treated in such a way that it seems Hyderabad’s people are going to pick a new wazir-e-azam (Prime Minister). Someone calls me Jinnah…some say rubbish things and lie.”

Taking a dig, he asked the BJP to invite Trump as well to campaign for the party. “The BJP is calling its big ministers and Chief Ministers. Now only Donald Trump is left to campaign for Hyderabad’s municipal elections. You call him, too, but nothing will matter. Inshallah, Majlis (AIMIM) will succeed.”

As the last day of campaigning comes to its end, BJP has left a mark with its aggressive campaigning that started suddenly to the shock of many. Its newly attained confidence was boosted with the clear unexpected win in Dubakka bypolls by 1,000 votes more than TRS. The Dubakka polls remained a strong point of the current ruling party since the state’s formation. However, with the scales going into the favour of BJP this year, the party saw this as a major opportunity to set up its rule in the southern city, which is considered as the second IT hub of India.

As such, BJP has brought in its biggest leaders, including Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of UP. Adityanath’s campaign in Kukatpally area witnessed a huge crowd, much to the please of the minister. He remarked his signature comments regarding changing the Muslim names of city as he sought to answer one of the questions allegedly asked to him regarding the renaming of Hyderabad to Bhagyanagar, to which the CM replied, “Why not?”, adding about the other occurrences where they have changed many cities’ names as well, including Ayodhya formerly known as Faizabad.

Scheduled for December 1st, the GHMC elections also witnessed Union Minister Amit Shah campaigning today for BJP in the city.

The political movie of the municipal elections saw Mr. Owaisi daring BJP to bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Hyderabad for campaigning to watch if the party wins even if he steps in the field.

Hyderabad police had to get involved and issue warnings to the politicians as an ocean of controversial and hate-spewing accusations had flushed from them during the rallies.

Bandi Sanjay, the state President of BJP lashed out at the government and major opposition parties as he threatened a “surgical strike” aimed at eradicating the Rohingyas and Pakistanis from Hyderabad. Bengaluru MP Tejaswi Surya, the President of the Youth wing of BJP, followed suit in the array of communally sensitive comments after he called Mr. Owaisi a “modern version of Mohammed Ali Jinnah”.
