Persecution of Indian Muslims is outrageous and must called out by the world – British MP Steve Baker

New Delhi: The world is taking notice of the atrocities being faced by the Muslims in India. The BJP led government prosecuting against the Muslim community in general is getting world-wide attention and anger. Be it the repression of human rights of Kashmiris, the discriminatory law-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act), resorting to violence against Muslims in Delhi, hate speech against Shaheen Bagh protestors or the sudden arrests of the Jamia Millia students, the Indian government is receiving global hatred against its moves. People have been openly telling the Centre, from across the globe, to stop its communal hate and persecution of Muslims.

The United Nations Human Rights Office criticized the BJP led government’s unfair policies against Muslims in recent past.

Voicing similar opinions, the British Parliamentarian Steve Baker spoke heavily against the government’s actions and for its anti-Muslims polices, calling in for an immediate cease in the prosecution of Muslims in India.

During a video-conference of British parliamentarians for the first time in Britain’s History on the current scenario and gross human rights violations amidst COVID-19 in Kashmir (India), the British parliamentarian Steve Baker said, “There is ample evidence of the persecution of Muslims in India. It is outrageous and it should be called out as outrageous by governments around the world. So this is not to attack or criticize the people of India it’s to say that this government of India is pursuing a policy of religious nationalism and evidently persecuting Muslims and that must stop, it must be called out and I think I’m calling it out and appealing to the UN to uphold the rights for which it was established”.
The video of the conference has been shared by the famous Kuwaiti lawyer, human rights activist and director of International Human Rights Mejbal Al Sharika on twitter. He said that the world has very little patience left after tolerating it all this time. Mr. Sharika termed the situation as ‘serious’.

“British MP Steve Baker calls out the BJP’s agenda of religious nationalism and demands a halt on the persecution of Muslims in India. The civilised world is running out of patience at the discrepancies of the ruling Hindutva regime.

This is serious. @IOC_IOC @ICJ_ICJ #Modi #BanRSS,” Mr. Sharika tweeted.

He has opened a front against the Modi led government and also volunteered to speak about the maltreatment and violence occurring against the Muslims in India before the United Nations Human Rights Council.
