Police arrest 2 drug peddlers in Hyderabad; 2L worth of items seized

On Friday, the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Langer house police arrested two drug peddlers. According to the police, the officials seized 17 grams of MDMA, two cell phones, and Rs 300 in cash, totaling Rs two lakhs.

The accused have been identified as Anthony Boateng Amihere (50), an African resident, and D. Sumanth (30), an Andhra Pradesh resident. Furthermore, the seized material and the accused were turned over to the SHO at Langer House for further investigation.

In another case, Hyderabad police arrested HillTop owner John Stephen (Steve) D’Souza on Wednesday in connection with a narcotics case filed in the Telangana capital. Hyderabad police informed Anjuna police station about HillTop owner Steve’s arrest, Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai said.

It was reported that D’Souza was taken for medical before transit remand after his arrest, but due to some health issues, he has been admitted to the district hospital, Mapusa. HillTop is a popular party venue in Vagator, and its owner’s arrest coincides with the arrest of alleged drug peddler Priteesh Borkar in Hyderabad.

Borkar, 36, was apprehended with 20 ecstasy pills, five LSD blots, 4g of MDMA, a phone, and Rs 4,000 in cash in Habsiguda. Borkar confessed to police in Hyderabad that he bought narcotics from six people in Goa, including D’Souza and Curlie’s manager Edwin Nunes, and sold them to his customers for a profit. Following Borkar’s revelations, a police team from Hyderabad arrived in Goa.

Public appeal from police

In recent years, we have seen several students become addicted to drugs, commit crimes, and engage in other anti-social activities. This threat has claimed the lives of several families.

“It is an ardent plea from Hyderabad city police not to fall victim to drugs. Parents are asked to keep an eye on their children’s activities and feel free to approach the police or inform us in order to curtail such anti-social activities and strive for a drug-free city,” said the police.
