In the absence of proper maintenance of roads in Charminar Zone especially on National Highway-44, dubbed as Bangalore Highway, the road users were put to suffer hard as the busy road from Bahadurpura to Aram Ghar has turned into a perilous route to drive for the commuters.
While the Bahadurpura Bridge works are already in progress, the new Zoo Park to Aram Ghar Bridge works were grounded in the month of September this year on the same stretch making the busy highway completely choked where construction material where stone blasts were seen scattering over the road while the water stagnation has turned the road entirely muddy filled with potholes.
The regular commuters – who were scared of choosing Bahadurpura cross road due to perennial traffic issue given the prolonged nature of Bridge works, are now aghast with the inequitable and pathetic road condition on the same stretch near Shastripuram Junction where another bridge works were grounded middle of the road recently that turned the 120 feet wide stretch completely muddy and filled it with potholes.
“In an attempt to avoid the troublesome road, I took a diversion from a narrow lane at Danamma Huts – another unmetalled road, to reach Shastripuram colony. However, I fell on the road as this road too was not appropriate to drive safely,” rued Syed Shoukat Ali, a resident of Shastripuram Colony.
“The officials could have ensured the safety of commuters before grounding such projects but they are having least care of such necessary measures,” he said adding that, “Accidents, some are even fatal, are keep on hunting the commuters on his stretch while the officials taking no much pain to rectify the fault line.”
Earlier this month, a man was crushed to death near Shastripuram Junction due to mud-filled sleepy road only two days after a similar accident at Kattedan area wherein a man died after falling from his bike unable to maintain the balance due to oversize pothole.
