‘Remember Her As Beloved Grandmother’: Rahul’s Tribute To Indira On Her Birth Anniversary

On Thursday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 103rd birth anniversary at Shakti Sthal here and then tweeted about remembering her as his beloved grandmother.

He tweeted: “Tributes to an efficient and embodiment of strength Prime Minister. The whole nation still gives examples of her leadership, but I remember her as my beloved grandmother. The lessons she taught keep inspiring me.”

“Humble tributes to the first woman PM of the nation Smt Indira Gandhi Ji on her birth anniversary. She dedicated her whole life to the service of the country,” Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said.

He included: “Her decisive leadership, values and supreme sacrifice can never be forgotten. Indira Ji’s life remains an inspiration.”

The Congress party remembered Indira Gandhi as a visionary, trailblazer, true leader and great daughter of India.

Indira Gandhi, born on November 19 1917, was the daughter of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and one of three individuals from the Nehru-Gandhi family to keep that office, with father of Rahul Gandhi and Indira Gandhi’s elder son Rajiv Gandhi being the third. She is furthermore the first and only woman prime minister of India so far.

Indira Gandhi was the third prime minister of India and the second-longest serving subsequent to her father.
