Rs 120 cr to improve facilities for Sammakka festival : Satyavathi Rathod

Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod today directed that an elaborate arrangement will be made for the famous Sammakka and Sarakka festival.

The festival will be held in three months exactly after 100 days, she said. The government is to spend about Rs 125 cr this time for the festival as Rs 75 cr spent last time for the same, she said.

The minister held a review meeting with the officials and asked them to take necessary measures for the tribal festival. Satyavathi Rathod said that three check-dams are to be removed if necessary to pave way for the festivities.

This time the government will provide more facilities and infrastructure to the devotees coming from various states. The festival will be conducted exactly after three months that is 100 days. The minister said that the officials were asked to provide more buildings and dining halls besides permanent shelter for the police on duty, she said.

Rathod also said that the collector sent proposals for Rs 120 cr for the festival at Mulugu district in the forest area. The government will resolve the Podu lands issue and help the Tribals. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is for addressing the podu lands’ issues and the Tribals will see good times ahead, she said. The minister said that more roads will be laid with repairs to old ones at the site.

The Tribal festival will be conducted on a grand scale as we tide over the corona crisis, she hoped. The government instructed the official machinery to coordinate for the successful conduct of the Tribal festival, she said.

We need to avoid plastic use, protect farmers’ interests on farming and build a degree college in the Gattamma area by spending Rs 55 cr. She laid Rs 2.45 cr worth works for community dining hall shed, OHRS, rest rooms and dress changing rooms, Sulabh Complex at the site.
