Rs 250 cr released for Dalit Bandhu in 4 mandals

In a significant development Telangana government today released Rs 250 cr for implementing the flagship Dalit Bandhu scheme.

The four mandals to get these funds are Chinthakani, Tirumalagiri, Charagonda and Nizamsagar respectively. The funds that will go to them are Rs 100 cr to Chintakani and Rs 50 cr each for the three other mandals as per orders issued.

The collectors held awareness camps in the districts on the scheme to the Dalit families. Meanwhile, the SC Corporation has asked the collectors to conduct SC families census in the districts.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has already reiterated to spend huge funds to empower Dalits in the state. Keeping the promise the state government released funds for four other mandals. Earlier the state government gave funds to Huzurabad which recently saw by-elections.

Under the scheme of Dalit Bandhu each eligible family of the SC community will get Rs 10 lakh to do any business of their choice either individually or in groups. The Chief Minister planned to spend a staggering Rs 1.70 lakh cr for implementing this scheme.  The government plans to give the funds to 100 families each in selected mandals on a pilot basis and extend in a phased manner.
